  • Allillanchu, beautiful souls! (A warm Quechua greeting from the Andes meaning “How are you?”) Welcome to your Good Soul Daily for Wednesday, October 28th, 2026. May today bring you a little breathing room, a little clarity, and the comforting reassurance that you are exactly where you need to be, even if you haven't checked a single thing off your to-do list yet. I've been thinking about something that seems almost revolutionary in our busy, busy world. What if the strongest thing we could do sometimes is absolutely nothing? We've become so accustomed to measuring our worth by our productivity that sitting still can feel downright irresponsible. There's always another email, another responsibility, another project, another person who needs something from us. And if you're anything like me, even when you finally sit down to relax, your brain is already composing a list of everything you should be doing instead. But ancient spiritual traditions have long recognized something we've become remarkably good at forgetting: stillness isn't the absence of progress. Sometimes it's where our greatest wisdom begins. Think about what we're really searching for beneath all that activity. We don't simply want a beautiful house. We want the feeling of home. We don't just want a relationship. We want to feel loved. We don't merely want walls around us. We want to feel safe. And perhaps beneath our endless striving for success, accomplishment, and security, what we're really longing for is a sense of peace within ourselves. Some spiritual traditions might describe that as reconnecting with the soul or the light of the Creator. Others might call it inner wisdom, presence, or simply feeling grounded. Whatever language speaks to you, the longing is remarkably human. But here's where we get ourselves into trouble. We start believing that constant movement is the only way to get there. We confuse being busy with being purposeful, exhaustion with dedication, and pushing ourselves beyond our limits with strength. We become so determined to build the life we want that we forget to experience the life we're actually living. And eventually, our bodies and minds begin reminding us that we were never designed to run at full speed indefinitely. I think there's a beautiful distinction between giving up and becoming still. Giving up means abandoning something that matters to us. Stillness means creating the space to remember why it matters in the first place. It's the moment when we stop reacting long enough to think clearly, when we allow ourselves to feel instead of constantly distracting ourselves, and when we recognize that rest is not something we have to earn through exhaustion. And for those of us with big dreams, high standards, and a genuine desire to make a difference in the world, this can be a difficult lesson. We worry that slowing down means falling behind. But what if a little intentional rest actually helps us become wiser, more creative, more patient, and more present for the people we love? A rested mind can often see possibilities that an exhausted one overlooks. A peaceful heart has more room for compassion. And a person who knows when to pause may have far more to give over a lifetime than someone who burns through every ounce of energy trying to prove their worth. We don't have to choose between ambition and peace. We can work hard, pursue extraordinary dreams, serve others, and still honor our need for stillness. Because the goal isn't to spend our lives running faster and faster. It's to build a life so meaningful that we actually want to slow down and enjoy it. Today's Inspo: Give yourself a few minutes today with absolutely nothing to accomplish. No phone, no checklist, no pressure to make the moment productive. Sit outside, close your eyes, breathe, pray, or simply notice the world around you. Ask yourself whether all your movement is bringing you closer to the life you want or simply keeping you busy. Remember, rest isn't a detour from your purpose. It's part of what allows you to keep living it. You don't have to be in motion every moment to be moving forward. 🧡✨
